Centre for India & Global Business

The Centre for India & Global Business acts as a platform for research and engagement with key partners in industry, academia and policy in India, the UK and across the world. Its primary focus is to examine India’s current and future role in the global knowledge economy.

The Centre conducts research and engage with key partners in the following areas:

  • The innovation activities of multinationals in India: how and why the world’s largest multinationals are increasingly locating their global R&D and innovation activities in India (and others countries like it)
  • The internationalisation of Indian firms: how Indian firms (relative to firms from other emerging markets) are going global and moving up the value chain
  • Co-innovation with the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid: how firms and other organisations are engaging those who live on less than $5 a day through innovative products, services and business models

The Centre was established in 2008 with financial support from the BP Foundation.

DARE – because Entrepreneurs do

What is DARE?

DARE is a media platform for the Indian Entrepreneur and the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem.

Dare IS NOT just a business magazine. It is an interactive platform for enabling entrepreneurs to start and run their own business. It analyses what businesses (and those who want to start their own) need to do, rather than report on what businesses are doing. It identifies business opportunities and success mantras for others to follow.

Dare seeks to enable aspiring entrepreneurs to start their own businesses, and enable the established entrepreneurs to take their business to the next level. Dare also seeks to enhance intrapreneurship among senior managers in large organizations.

National Entrepreneurship Network

The National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), founded in 2002, is a not-for-profit initiative of the Wadhwani Foundation, working to inspire, educate and support the next generation of high-growth entrepreneurs in India.

NEN was co-founded by five of India’s premier academic institutions: IIT Bombay; IIM Ahmedabad; SP Jain Institute, Bombay; IBAB, Bangalore and BITS Pilani. Over the past three years, NEN’s focus on introducing a new paradigm in entrepreneurship education in India — and its innovative method of doing so — has made it its leading catalyst on campuses across India.

NEN’s ultimate goal is to help launch thousands of new entrepreneurs, who in turn will create hundreds of thousands of much-needed valuable jobs for India.

Changemakers

Changemakers is an initiative of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public that focuses on the rapidly growing world of social innovation. It provides solutions and resources needed to help everyone become a changemaker and presents compelling stories that explore the fundamental principles of successful social innovation around the world.

Changemakers is building the world’s first global online “open source” community that competes to surface the best social solutions, and then collaborates to refine, enrich, and implement those solutions. Changemakers begins by providing an overarching intellectual framework for collaborative competitions that bring together individual social change initiatives into a more powerful whole.

To keep the framework dynamic, the online Changemakers’s community identifies and selects the best solutions and helps refine them. The result is global action frameworks, drawing on the work of social entrepreneurs, that seed collaborative action and visibility on a global scale — making a big difference, field by field.
