SME Manufacturing Summit – Strategies and Initiatives for Sustainable Growth

Global Entrepreneurship Summit – IIT Kharagpur

The theme for this year’s summit is “Innovation-The Creators of Tomorrow”. The highlight of the summit is the “Startup Camp” to be held on 15th January 2012. The camp would provide a platform for the startups, venture capitalists and students all across the nation to interact with one another and also provide students the splendid opportunity to gain internships! The summit will also feature Guest Lectures by eminent innovatorsand World-Class Workshops on the various aspects related to Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

We are a non-profit student organisation at IIT Kharagpur with the aim of fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship among college students in India. We are one of the most successful entrepreneurial organisations in the country with 28 start-ups incubated within 5 years of our inception.

We conduct our flagship event – Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) every year in January, and this is oneof the biggest entrepreneurial platforms for academicians, new-age entrepreneurs, eminent business personalities, venture capitalists and students to gather at one place and share their entrepreneurial endeavours and experiences, and to pledge to take entrepreneurship to greater scales. GES 2012 will be held from 13-15 January 2012 at IIT Kharagpur. More than 2000 students from various engineering colleges in India will be a part of this summit.

GES 2012 also plays host to the Global Entrepreneurship Conference in India. The conference aims to provide a platform where promotion of entrepreneurship could be discussed with a global perspective. It will feature a live video conference with foreign universities and US entrepreneurs to understand the entrepreneurial environmental in different nations.

Submission of Executive Summary: Latest by 9th Dec 2011 By 9th Dec, the participants will have to submit their executive summaries to the TiE Delhi – NCR team. The shortlisted teams will be invited for the business sessions.
Business Session I: 17th Dec 2011 Business Session I will have mentors assigned to each team, who will help them further refine their plan.
Business Session II: 14th Jan 2012 Business Session II will have mentors assigned to each team, who will help them create powerful pitches and presentations.
Delhi Finals: 28th Jan 2012 The Delhi finals will have the business plans go through tough grilling by the jury and the results declared.
All Asia Finals: 10th and 11th Feb 2012 Teams from across Asia chapters will land in Delhi to compete in the challenging environment, culminating with the most exciting start-up event of 2012: Smash-up.

Service Sector SME Summit

Small and Medium Business Development Chamber of India (SME Chamber of India), Maharashtra Industrial and Economic Development Association (MIEDA), SME Export Promotion Council and India International Trade Centre (IITC-INDIA) are jointly organising “Service Sector SME Summit – Opportunities and Challenges” on 12th October,2011 at Hotel InterContinental The Lalit, Mumbai with the support of Government of Maharashtra.

Service Sector is one of the fastest growing industries and witnessed the sharpest recorded rise in output during the past few years. SMEs are also the backbone of the service sector industry consisting of more than 62% and contribute about a quarter of total employment, accounting for a high share in foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows and over one-third of total exports. Currently, the Service Sector SMEs are facing many difficulties because of slow down in manufacturing sector, competition, non-availability of adequate funding, skilled manpower and insufficient support and assistance from the Government agencies.
