50 Amazing Startup/Business Incubators and Accelerators in India

Sometime back we were discussing options to find business incubation for our idea. We researched fairly and part of this article was the result of that research. We thought why not complete the research and publish it out for everyone’s use.

Startup incubators are a growing trend and a great thrust to support first time entrepreneurs across India. There are all kinds of efforts in this direction – Govt supported Institute based technology incubators, Private business incubators started by industry veterans and startup accelerators supported by companies and VC funds. Individually there are differences between how they incubate, structure the program, operate, support/fund and accelerate the ventures. We have tried to cover the fundamentals of each of them succinctly, but readers will do good to dive in each entity to understand more.

How to find the right mentor

redBus.in was founded by three engineers — Phanindra Sama, Charan Padmaraju and Sudhakar Pasupunuri — who studied together at the BITS, Pilani, and later worked in various companies in Bengaluru.

Started modestly in August 2006 with a few seats from one bus operator, redBus today is one of the most successful online bus ticket booking agencies. Today, it has 700 bus operators, 10,000 buses listed on it, works in 15 states and sells around 5,000 tickets every day.

In this video Phanindra shares some tips on finding the right mentor.

Creating rural entrepreneurs

At KVAFSU, farmers are trained in animal rearing, post-harvest preservation and processing technologies

Teaching, research and extension are on the agenda of every farm university. But the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University is trying to break the mould by introducing another important component to it – entrepreneurship development among farmers.

C. Renuka Prasad, who took over as the Vice-Chancellor recently, said the university would share advanced technology with farmers and tie up with private corporations to promote industries based on farm and animal produce.

Management

Managing time for growth

Time management is a skill that a lot of us struggle with. Most of us plan for the day in the morning, but end up frustrated since we do so many other things during the day which were not planned for. Quite often, we do not even review our day! Busy business owners are just that: busy!

It is very critical for SME owners to understand time management, with the clear intention of freeing themselves from routine work. In this process, you will start identifying accurately how much of your time is spent on productive activities that directly contribute to the results you want, and how much of your time is spent unproductively. This is a revealing process, and will help you identify areas for improvement very quickly.
