Launched by Goldman Sachs, 10,000 Women is a global initiative that will increase the number of under-served women entrepreneurs receiving a business and management education. This initiative is built on the premise that partnerships between education, development, and business experts can help bring about significant change through improved business education for women entrepreneurs.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

To ensure that the initiative benefits the most deserving candidates, the program targets businesses and businesswomen that satisfy the following criteria:

The business is owned or co-owned by the applicant
The business has been in existence for at least a year
The business has the potential to grow through the infusion of management techniques and know-how
The revenue turnover of the business is between Rs.5,00,000 and Rs.75,00,000 per annum
The entrepreneur who runs the business is proficient in English
The entrepreneur is preferably not a post-graduate in business or a PhD in any discipline
The entrepreneur is underserved in terms of family income and family circumstances

Transformation to sustainability is the biggest business challenge–and opportunity–in the history of capitalism. World population has grown 3 times in approximately 60 years. United Nations projects the world population to reach 10 billion by 2100! Most of the products currently developed are for the affluent 1 billion people and give very little attention to environmental issues. As we gear up to serve the needs of the several billion aspiring middle-classes and BoP customers, we are on a path that is environmentally unsustainable. If growth in consumption rates continues at its present pace, we could literally destroy the natural systems‚ soils, watersheds, fisheries, forests, and climate‚ that underpin all economic activity, and indeed, human existence.

MISSION

The mission of the Indian Institute for Sustainable Enterprise is to dramatically increase the number and success of intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs focused on socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable business development for the 21st century. HATCHLINGS 2011 is an Entrepreneurship Competition amongst the Management students in your city aimed to promote new and innovative ideas of the youth so as to give them ground on how they want to contribute to the economy and/or the society at large.

There are 2 tracks from which the students can choose to register:
Social Venture or Commercial Venture

HATCHLINGS 2011 involves 3 rounds to select the Best HATCHLINGS, one from each of the tracks, which will be selected by an eminent panel of jury members from the Venture Capital industry.
The Best HATCHLING from each of the tracks will be awarded Rs. 1 Lac to help them get their ideas off the ground. Mentoring support to each the winning ventures will be given by DeConseil, Singapore

Our activities therefore revolve around forging new ways of helping budding entrepreneurs in India – typically through:

Research on industry trends and best practices – enabling our start-ups to focus on relevant problems while learning from other’s mistakes
Disseminate knowledge through conferences, publication and training a new generation of practitioners
